Winfrey Hearst

Winfrey HearstWinfrey Hearst is a native of El Paso, Texas, and received both her B.A. Degree in Art and her B.S. Degree in Education at the University of Texas at El Paso. She later went on to further her study in ceramics at the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena, Montana, her study of printmaking at the Institute of Experimental Printmaking in Santa Cruz, California, and her study in education at Carroll College in Helena. She has been a printmaker for over thirty years.

Her work has been included in the recent international exhibitions “Imprinted: Contemporary Printmaking” at El Museo Cultural de Santa Fe and “Arts International” at the International Museum of Art in El Paso. She exhibits her pastels and original prints regularly at the Patio Art Gallery in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and she is also associated with the area organizations La Prensa, Southwest Printmakers; Border Artists; and Las Artistas.

While living in Montana, she exhibited in Helena at the Montana Historical Society, the Archie Bray Foundation, and the Montana Gallery and Book Shoppe; in Kalispell at the Hockaday Art Center; and in Bozeman at the Ketterer Art Center. Her work was included in the “Governor’s Salute to the Arts” and “A Show of Hands”, a film on the arts in Montana produced by the Helena Arts Council.

Her etchings are in the permanent collections of the University of Texas at El Paso, the Montana Historical Society, and C.M. Russell High School, Great Falls , Montana.
