The Border Artists
Virginia is a fourth generation border person, passionate about regional images and issues. She is a community oriented and artistically driven person, seeing her work as a forever forward-thinking process. Her undergraduate work at the University of Arizona is in fine arts and journalism while her Master’s degree is from New Mexico State University in Community Development through Cultural Tourism.
She is the co-founder of the Border Artists, a diverse group of artists working in the Mesilla Valley region and has been with the National Park Service as the Festival and Events Coordinator for the Chamizal National Memorial in El Paso, Texas.
Virginia has had numerous solo exhibitions in Mexico. She has also participated in numerous Border Artists’ group shows. These have included regional as well as international exhibitions, shows at the Museo de Arte, Juarez, Mexico, Centro Cultural Mexicana, Torreon, Mexico, and cultural centers in El Paso and Deming. She has also been a part of Arte del Camino Real, a regional invitational, for several years.
