Suzanne Kane

Suzanne KaneBorn and raised near Detroit, Michigan, Suzanne attended Michigan State University and received a BFA in sculpture, graduating with honors in 1980. For years, she was a middle school visual arts instructor, as well as the creator of a production sculpture business. In 1994, a move to Las Cruces, New Mexico allowed her to pursue a master’s degree at New Mexico State University concentrating on studio art in ceramics. Graduating in 1998 with an MFA, she received the First Place Graduate Symposium Award for her master’s thesis show at New Mexico State University.

Suzanne’s work has been exhibited internationally. Recently, she received an award from the prestigious ceramic juried show Feats of Clay 2006 in Lincoln, California as well as an award in the 2006 International Orton Cone Box Show. She was chosen as one of 18 ceramic artists to represent the state of New Mexico in a ceramic show at the Governor’s Gallery in the state capitol building in Santa Fe. Her work can be seen at Mariposa Gallery in Albuquerque, Patina Gallery in Santa Fe, The Hayden Hays Gallery in Colorado Springs, Trios Gallery in San Diego and Glenn Cutter’s Gallery in Las Cruces.

Suzanne is also a teacher and writer on the arts. Currently she is an instructor of ceramics at New Mexico State University and her writing has recently been published in the Australian magazine Ceramics Technical.
